Historic
Route 127...

The Wabash Trail
started at the Ohio River (Cincinnati, OH) and led to the headwaters of the Wabash River (near Celina, OH). Route 127 generally follows this long-gone Indian trail.

Ohio's Frontier Forts:
In the 1790s during "Little Turtle's War", a chain of forts was established along the Wabash Trail by General Arthur St. Clair and later, General Anthony Wayne:
Fort Washington (Cin.)
Fort Hamilton
Fort St. Clair (Eaton)
Fort Jefferson
Fort Greenville
Fort Recovery
Fort Defiance

These historic fort sites have been preserved, and can be found on, or near, Route 127.

The Treaty of Greenville:
In 1795 at Fort Greenville, Little Turtle and his coalition of tribes ceded much of the land that is now Ohio.
